"Exhaustion is not the new chic coffee (though a delicious necessity) it is not a food group, and running on fumes is not admirable. Why do we hold pedestals for sleepless nights, breakdowns and inner turmoil? Self-care. Balance. The ability to know when your mind, body, and spirit need to take a step back. Those are the things we should admire. We have to stop blurring the line between "commitment" and self-endangerment because too many people are burning out before they have a chance to truly shine." - via runningmandz
This quote is really speaking to me today. Haven't seen a blog post from me all of January? yep. Seeking balance and incorporating self-care is not something that we decide to do and it's done. It's a lesson we learn over and over. It's something to strive for daily. And if you're like me you need the occasional reminder in the form of an aptly timed quote or a week that feels a little off and disproportionately stressful. Often something needs to happen to help us remember to re-prioritize and take care of ourselves. Here's to the I-haven't-done-yoga-in-a-month(??) realization and to doing something to remedy that asap!
